Consular assistance to Singaporeans / PRs
Singaporeans or Permanent Residents (PRs) who require consular assistance can contact the Embassy at +55 61 2191 6565 (during office hours) or +55 61 99584 9583 (after office hours).
What the Embassy can do
We can provide you with information and advice.
We can issue emergency travel documents if you have lost your passport overseas.
We can request financial assistance on your behalf from your friends or relatives.
We can notify your friends or relatives if you have been injured or arrested abroad.
We can provide a list of officially registered lawyers or translators if required.
We can assist in arranging the repatriation of the remains and personal belongings of the deceased.
We can assist in the event of natural disasters, civil disorder, or terrorist attacks in the foreign country.
What the Embassy cannot do
We cannot pay for your medical, legal, accommodation, or travel expenses.
We cannot provide you with loans or cash.
We cannot intervene in a foreign judicial system if you have been detained, post bail, or pay fines.
We cannot intervene in civil or commercial disputes.
We cannot provide legal advice or initiate court proceedings for you.
We cannot act as your guarantor or sponsor.
We cannot find accommodation or employment for you.
We cannot provide translation, mail-forwarding, telephone, or other personal services.

Documentation provided by the Embassy
The Embassy can provide the following documents to assist Singaporeans with obtaining documentation in Brazil:
Consular Certificate (stating parents’ names)
Letter of Civil Marriage Record
Letter of No Expiry Date for Singapore Driving License
The documents are provided free of charge. Please email your request to singemb_bsb@mfa.sg with the relevant supporting documents.
Notarial services
The Embassy only processes requests for notarial services on documents intended for use in Singapore. We do not perform notarial functions in respect of a document which will be used in a country other than Singapore.
Requests for notarial services are on an appointment-only basis, and the Embassy will not accept any walk-in requests. Appointments can only be made between 9.30 am to 12.30 pm and 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm from Mondays to Fridays. Our address is SHIS QL 24, Conjunto 3 Casa 11, Lago Sul, Brasilia, Federal District, CEP 71665-035. All visitors must bring a photo identification with them to be admitted on the premises.
Please email scanned copies of the documents and schedule an appointment with the Embassy via email at singemb_bsb@mfa.sg. The Embassy will inform you of the applicable fees for the service.
The Government of the Republic of Singapore will not be responsible for any document lost in the mail or transmitted through courier services.
Legalization of Documents
On 18 January 2021, Singapore acceded to the Hague Conference on Private International Law (HCCH) Convention of 5 October 1961 (“Apostille Convention”) abolishing the requirement of legalisation for foreign public documents. To operationalise the Apostille Convention, the Singapore Academy of Law is authorised to issue Apostilles for all Singapore documents bound overseas with effect from 16 September 2021. For documents originating in Singapore to be used in Brazil, please approach the Singapore Law Academy on the legalization process.
As Brazil is also a party to the Apostille Convention, apostilles for Brazilian public documents can be obtained at any public notary office (cartorio) located in one of the 27 state capitals and the Federal District of Brazil. With effect from 16 September 2021, once the public notary office has issued an Apostille on a Brazilian public document, it can be presented in Singapore directly without further legalisation from the Singapore Embassy in Brasilia.
The Singapore Embassy in Brazil is not authorised to provide Apostilles or assist in obtaining them. If you have a Brazilian public document that needs an Apostille to be recognised in Singapore, please contact a public notary office in one of the Brazilian capital cities directly.
Attestation of documents
The Embassy is able to attest to the signature of documents such as (but not limited to):

Central Provident Fund (CPF) withdrawal forms
Powers of attorney
Property deeds
Bank mortgages
You are required to appear in person at the Embassy in Brasilia for attestation. You are responsible for presenting the document in its proper form. The Embassy cannot draw up legal documents for members of the public or check that their contents are true and correct.
Certified true copies
The Embassy can only certify a copy of any document against the original copy. The Embassy will levy an additional charge for any copies made by us.
